13 things to consider before drinking Ayahuasca (Common Concerns)

Concerns about ayahuasca

Will I be safe on my Ayahuasca journey?  You want to drink Ayahuasca but there are still things that you are unsure about.  They range from questions around safety (physical to emotional), to the ceremony itself and how will you be taken care of.  What happens if you go crazy or you lose control? And what about after the ceremony?  Will you be normal again, or will the change be so profound that you are unrecognizable to yourself and others. How will you be able to process the experience? We dive into these topics in this blog. Let’s get started. Key takeaways:  Pick a retreat center where you feel listen to and understood, where you are not just a number but the team really cares about your well – being.    The retreat center should follow a tradition / ancestral lineage which ensures a deep knowledge of Ayahuasca to help participants in difficult moments in the ceremony.    Ayahuasca can move a lot of energy, create a level of confusion, uncertainty (or exactly the opposite depending on your experience). However, it is important that there are certain modalities in place that will help you process the experience.  Table of Contents https://youtu.be/3wt2nMoBK3Y Will I be safe on my Ayahuasca journey?  You want to drink Ayahuasca but there are still things that you are unsure about.  They range from questions around safety (physical to emotional), to the ceremony itself and how will you be taken care of.  What happens if you go crazy or you lose control? And what about after the ceremony?  Will you be normal again, or will the change be so profound that you are unrecognisable to yourself and others. How will you be able to process the experience? We dive into these topics in this blog. Let’s get started. 1. Physical Safety:  Safety should be everyone’s top priority when considering an Ayahuasca retreat, but it’s often an even more significant concern for women.  In a setting that demands vulnerability, both emotional and physical safety are crucial.  Here are some guidelines to help you ensure a safer experience: Ask for Recommendations Before choosing a retreat center, consult with people you trust who have experience with Ayahuasca.  Online reviews and testimonials can be helpful, but personal recommendations from friends or acquaintances in the spiritual or wellness community can be even more valuable. Choose Reputable Retreat Center Not all Ayahuasca retreats are equal. Research thoroughly to find centers that have a track record.  The more people have had a positive experience there, the more likely it is that you will have one as well.  Also, these retreat centers often have a reputation to lose so they are extra careful about creating a safe environment.  Avoid Solo Journeys in Remote Areas The romantic notion of venturing alone into the Amazon to find a shaman might sound tempting, but it can be very risky.  In remote places, you’re far from medical assistance and the safeguards that a reputable retreat center provides.  If you’re not experienced in the Amazon’s unique challenges or Ayahuasca ceremonies, going it alone exposes you to more risks, especially as a solo female traveler. Remember, the most transformative experiences are often the ones where you feel supported and safe enough to deeply explore your inner landscape.  Taking the time to ensure your physical safety is an essential part of preparing for a meaningful Ayahuasca journey. 2. Emotional Comfort: Setting the Foundation for Healing Ensuring you’re emotionally comfortable before and during your Ayahuasca retreat is just as crucial as physical safety. Here are some factors to consider: 3. Initial Conversation with the Retreat Center Your initial interaction with the retreat center can give you an insightful glimpse into their way of interacting and how much they value participants’ emotional well-being.  Are they open and willing to answer your questions and concerns? Do they explain the process and what to expect? 4. Participant to Facilitator Ratio A lower participant-to-facilitator ratio generally allows for a more intimate, attentive experience.  Too many participants can make it challenging for the staff to give you the individual attention you may need, especially during such an emotionally intense process. Personal Attention Do the facilitators take the time to get to know you? Are they interested in your motivations for participating in the retreat and any concerns you may have? Feeling heard and understood can significantly impact your comfort level and overall experience. 5. Agreements and Guidelines Good retreat centers usually have explicit agreements or guidelines outlining participant behavior, what to expect from the facilitators, and how any challenges will be addressed.  These agreements can serve as a safety net, giving you a clearer understanding of the process and your role in it.  We for example share the agreements of confidentiality, respect and non-judgement and authenticity when we start the first sharing circle of the retreat.  6. Applied Pressure?  Do you feel rushed when interacting with the retreat’s staff, or do they give you the time and space to make your decision?  A retreat that values your pace contributes to a more emotionally secure environment. Emotional comfort plays a massive role in the Ayahuasca experience. When you feel emotionally secure, you’re more likely to gain the profound insights and healing the plant medicine can offer.  Always remember, you’re not just a number; you’re an individual embarking on a deeply personal journey. Make sure your chosen retreat sees and treats you that way. How will I be supported in the ceremony?  One of the most crucial aspects of an Ayahuasca ceremony is the support structure in place to guide you through the experience. Here’s what you should consider: 7. Tradition and Lineage Does the retreat center follow a specific ancestral lineage or tradition of Ayahuasca?  There is a deep level of knowledge behind Ayahuasca and you want to make sure that where you will do an Ayahuasca ceremony, they have access to that knowledge.  That way you are not “part of an experiment” but following a path of

Is Ayahuasca right for me?

is ayahuasca right for me

You might have heard about the incredible (and many times scary) stories about Ayahuasca. And obviously the next question comes to mind. Is Ayahuasca right for me?  Let’s look into what type of people are usually drawn to Ayahuasca and also for who Ayahuasca is not the right choice. Let’s dive in. Key takeaways:  There are certain overarching themes to why people want to drink Ayahuasca. They are usually to heal from the past, find clarity or to become the best version of myself.    Ayahuasca is not for you if there are medical contraindications for you to drink Ayahuasca. (psychiatric conditions, certain medications, heart disease, epilepsy etc.)   Certain mental attitudes are not compatible with Ayahuasca. They are being attached to one’s victim mentality, not ready to take responsibility for one’s life, looking for a quick fix, drinking Ayahuasca because somebody else urges them to or for psychedelic tourism reasons.  Table of Contents https://youtu.be/_NS7m9neG2s?si=pS3Ua3pZ3uGlU1dc What type of people are usually coming here? The self optimizer – Becoming the best version of yourself The journey to an Ayahuasca retreat often attracts individuals who are deeply committed to personal growth and self-improvement. These are people looking to become the best versions of themselves, striving to create a vision for their lives and discover their purpose.  They aim to live with more integrity and are in the process of defining the values they want to uphold. Many are interested in breaking through their limiting beliefs to unlock greater potential. Typically, these individuals could be classified as “self-optimizers” who are often well-acquainted with personal development tools and philosophies.  They’ve likely listened to podcasts like Joe Rogan’s, participated in ice baths, or experimented with other alternative therapies or have had psychedelic journeys in the past.  A significant portion are digital nomads, entrepreneurs or self-employed, understanding the inherent value of self-knowledge in both personal and professional settings. These people are not new to the concept of Ayahuasca; they’ve heard about its transformative powers and have decided they’re ready for the experience.  It’s about more than curiosity; it’s about a deeper understanding and a life lived with purpose. Example Famous examples could be Aaron Rodgers, 8 – figure entrepreneur Gerald Adams, or even people from the start – up community.  Heal from the Past Another group of people who are often drawn to Ayahuasca retreats are those seeking to heal from the past and even addictions.  Whether it’s a business failure, a heart-wrenching breakup, or unresolved childhood trauma, these individuals feel the weight of their history impacting their present.  It may manifest in various ways, such as issues with trust or difficulty letting go of control, that inevitably shape their future. Many have sought traditional routes of healing, such as therapy or other modalities, but find that these methods don’t offer complete relief or resolution.  They come to Ayahuasca looking for a deeper form of healing, one that not only tackles the symptoms but goes to the very root of their suffering.  For many, it becomes the transformative experience that finally helps them break free from the shackles of their past. In the case of addictions, whether to substances or harmful behaviors, Ayahuasca has shown promise in providing people with the insights needed to understand the deeper reasons behind their addictive tendencies. This newfound awareness can be a pivotal moment, helping them to begin the journey towards recovery and a healthier lifestyle. Is Ayahuasca right for me to overcome Mental Health Struggles Another significant group attracted to Ayahuasca are those grappling with mental health issues like depression, anxiety and self-confidence problems,  While Ayahuasca is not a guaranteed “cure” for these conditions, many have reported profound shifts in their emotional and mental well-being after participating in ceremonies.  People dealing with depression or anxiety often find that Ayahuasca helps them confront the emotional or psychological root causes of their struggles, rather than merely addressing symptoms.  Those with self-confidence issues may experience revelations about their inherent worth, which could be a stepping stone to long-term self-esteem improvement. Finding Clarity Many of the people who turn to Ayahuasca do so for finding clarity. They are often at significant crossroads in their lives.  This can range from navigating a mid-life crisis filled with existential questions to making crucial life-altering decisions about career, relationships, or location.  In addition, there are those who face ongoing physical health challenges, for which conventional medicine hasn’t offered sufficient relief or answers.  Ayahuasca offers a unique route for exploring these complex issues, serving as a mirror to the psyche. The plant medicine facilitates a powerful form of introspection, enabling individuals to connect more profoundly with their inner selves.  Ayahuasca helps you strip away societal conditioning and self-imposed limitations.  By removing these layers, you’re able to delve into your core being and unearth what you genuinely desire and need.  In doing so, you find answers to pressing questions about your life.  If this applies to you, and you are ready to take the next step, Ayahuasca is something for you.  Drinking Ayahuasca in difficult times?  Some people are concerned about drinking Ayahuasca when they are experiencing difficult times and having to confront all of this in an intense state. They are not sure if they are ready for this experience.  It is important to remember that Ayahuasca is not an experiment, you are not venturing into psychedelics but follow an ancestral healing methodology. Especially in difficult times Ayahuasca can be a great help for people.   I created a video specifically for this topic. If you feel like this applies to you, I highly recommend watching it.  https://youtu.be/Mv28egv70rY Who should not drink Ayahuasca? While Ayahuasca has the potential to be profoundly transformative for many, it’s crucial to understand that not everyone is a suitable candidate for this kind of experience.  Medical conditions – psychiatric conditions  For those with specific medical conditions, participating in an Ayahuasca ceremony can pose significant risks.  For example, individuals with certain psychiatric conditions such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and borderline personality disorder are generally

Ayahuasca and purgatives – The Colombian Approach to the Ayahuasca Diet

Ayahuasca and purgatives

Different countries and different indigenous cultures have different ways of connecting and preparing for Ayahuasca.  In Peru there is a lot of emphasis on the dieta, while in Colombia the tribes focus more on purgatives which help cleanse the body.  It’s essential to note that no single approach is inherently superior to the others. Each tradition has its merits, developed over centuries, if not millennia, to suit the specific needs, environment, and collective wisdom of a community.  We are fortunate to live in a time when these powerful plant medicines and ancient techniques are accessible to us.  The key is to remain open to receiving the wisdom and healing that different traditions offer, even if the experience can be challenging or uncomfortable.  In this blog you will learn how purgatives form an integral part of the process and what you can expect.  The Power of Purgatives: The Foundation of Indigenous Medicines In our modern lives, we’re continually exposed to toxins, be it through the air we breathe, the food we consume, or even the stressors that invade our mental landscape.  These toxins accumulate in our system, hindering our body’s natural ability to absorb essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. The result? A less-than-optimal state of health that can make us more susceptible to illness. While Western medicine often focuses on treating symptoms as they arise, indigenous practices like those of the Kamëntsá tradition in Colombia take a more preventative approach.  The idea is not to wait until you’re sick but to proactively cleanse the system. For many of us, detoxification is a rarity.  We might try a lemon and olive oil cleanse once or twice in a lifetime, which pales in comparison to the accumulation of toxins we’ve ingested over the years. In the Kamëntsá tradition, there are over 200 different purgatives, many of which are lesser-known and specific to their jungle environment.  These purgatives are not just quick fixes but are part of a holistic approach to well-being, one that emphasizes the power of prevention. It’s no surprise that the elders in these communities, like Maria Chindoy’s grandfather, often live well past 100 years with remarkable vitality. The philosophy here is clear: don’t just medicate, rejuvenate and prevent. By adopting such ancient practices, we can aspire to create a balance in our modern lives that honors our bodies. Ayahuasca Diet: Peru vs. Colombia When it comes to Ayahuasca diets, the approaches can vary significantly depending on the tradition and the region.  In Peruvian traditions, the dietary guidelines are usually quite strict, with some recommending a specific diet starting as much as six weeks before the Ayahuasca ceremony.  This strict regimen often involves cutting out various foods and substances, including salt, sugar, dairy, and caffeine among other items. The benefits of this approach are multifaceted. For one, the stringent diet serves as a daily reminder that you are preparing for a significant spiritual journey.  This can imbue your preparation period with a sense of purpose and seriousness, heightening your psychological and spiritual readiness for the transformative Ayahuasca experience.  It’s a constant message to your subconscious: “I’m about to undertake something important.” Contrast this with the Colombian approach, where there’s less emphasis on an extensive pre-ceremony diet, usually starting one week before the ceremony.  In Colombian traditions like those of the Kamsá, the focus often leans more towards purification through other means, such as purgatives, rather than a rigid dietary regimen.  Both methods have their merits, and the ‘best’ approach may depend on the individual, their background, and what they’re comfortable with.  What is vital, though, is the intention and respect you bring to the Ayahuasca experience, regardless of the specific preparatory path you take. Must read Blog: Ayahuasca Intention – Discover your Ayahuasca Intention The Synergy of a Clean Body and Spirit in Ayahuasca Ceremonies There’s a well-known adage that suggests a connection between a healthy body and a healthy mind—perhaps even extending to a healthy soul.  The concept is that the cleaner your physical vessel, the more receptive you become to the spiritual insights and transformations that Ayahuasca can offer.  For those who consume unhealthy foods, smoke cigarettes, or engage in other forms of substance use, the initial Ayahuasca experience can end up being more about physical purification than receiving comprehensions about one’s life.  For some people, the first cup—or even the entire first ceremony—primarily serves to cleanse the body of toxins. This can be “skipped” by drinking a purgative before that cleans the body.  By engaging in this level of preparation, you’re essentially optimizing your system to derive the maximum benefit from the Ayahuasca ceremony.  So while six-week diets and extensive fasts have their benefits, sometimes a well-administered purgative can serve as a more direct route to preparing the body for Ayahuasca. Must read Blog: Ayahuasca Preparation: – How to prepare for your Ayahuasca ceremony The Amplified Experience: Ayahuasca After Purgatives After participating in well over a hundred Ayahuasca ceremonies, I can attest to the varying intensity that each ceremony.  These experiences can be influenced by numerous factors such as your current life phase, the frequency of your ceremonies, and other personal variables.  However, one constant that has emerged in my journey is the noticeably enhanced quality of Ayahuasca ceremonies following a purgative. When a purgative is taken prior to an Ayahuasca ceremony (the day of, or the week before), the spiritual and even visual dimensions of the experience gain a heightened clarity and focus. The visions are clearer, and there’s a sharpened understanding of the messages or lessons of the Ayahuasca. So, if you find yourself considering whether to incorporate a purgative into your Ayahuasca preparation, my recommendation leans strongly toward doing so. The opportunity to deepen and clarify your experience in this way is invaluable, offering you a more potent ceremony.  Difficulties connecting with Ayahuasca – Purgative helps breaking down the barriers.  Not everyone connects with Ayahuasca immediately or easily. There are participants who drink multiple cups during a ceremony and still experience minimal effects. This

Ayahuasca Call – your soul is ready for the next step

Ayahuasca call

Ayahuasca is described by many as a possible life changing experience. But before the experience itself, there is a certain pull towards the medicine. Something that draws you towards it. It is hard to put into words… For many, the journey begins not with a step, but with a feeling – a whisper of something profound that comes from the depths, urging them to listen more closely. This is what many spiritual seekers describe as the “Calling for Ayahuasca”. This calling is not just a casual interest or fleeting curiosity; it’s a deep-rooted pull, drawing individuals towards the magic of Ayahuasca  If you’re reading this, it’s highly likely that you’ve either felt this call or are beginning to tune in to its frequency. Perhaps it’s a yearning for healing, a drive for understanding, or a path for a deeper connection with oneself and the universe.  Regardless of the reason, the call is real, and it’s potent. This article aims to shed light on the details of this call, helping you to better understand its nature, significance, and the power of Ayahuasca. Key takeaways:  When you start to be drawn towards Ayahuasca, when it starts to show up in your field of awareness you are starting to hear the call for Ayahuasca. Be open for synchronicities and vivid dreams.  It means that your consciousness is ready for the experience and that on a profound level you are ready to take the next step in your life.  Do not force Ayahuasca, sometimes you also still have to take the active step towards it. Table of Contents Personal Story: Recognizing the Calling for Ayahuasca:  Whenever I share stories of my experiences with Ayahuasca, diverse reactions emerge from the audience. Imagine a room of 10 people, attentively listening. A handful might respond with polite curiosity, saying, “It sounds intriguing, but it’s not for me.” Some might recoil a bit, exclaiming, “This sounds too intense and way out of my comfort zone!” Yet, invariably, there will be a few whose eyes light up, leaning forward, almost magnetically drawn to the narrative, asking, “Can you tell me more?” It’s these individuals who are sensing the call of Ayahuasca.  What fascinates me about this dynamic is that the story remains consistent, yet the responses vary so widely. It underscores the idea that our receptiveness to certain experiences is influenced by our current state of consciousness and where we are on our personal journeys. The same message can resonate differently, reflecting the uniqueness of each individual’s path. Drawing from my own experiences, before I took part in my first Ayahuasca ceremony, I happened upon a video by an influencer detailing his transformative journey with the sacred brew. His words, perspective, and recounting resonated deeply with me. Almost serendipitously, the following week, a friend encountered this same influencer at an event. From him, she obtained contact information for a reputable retreat that facilitated Ayahuasca ceremonies. Without hesitation, and perhaps driven by that same inexplicable call, I found myself enrolling for my inaugural ceremony just a week later. This journey with Ayahuasca, often initiated by a simple tale or an unexpected meeting, reminds us of the interconnectedness of life and the mysterious ways the universe can guide us towards profound awakenings. The observing Spirit of Ayahuasca The indigenous cultures deeply rooted in the traditions of Ayahuasca believe that Ayahuasca is not just a substance there is a spirit behind the plant. And the spirit of Ayahuasca is ever-watchful, observing every individual on this planet. However, it’s crucial to shed any preconceived notions or parallels we might draw. This isn’t a deity that sits in judgment, cataloging our wrongs and celebrating our rights. Instead, envision it more as a benevolent, curious observer, existing in its own unique vibrational realm, yet deeply attuned to our world and its inhabitants. As we navigate our life paths, those who begin to harmonize or resonate with this particular frequency – perhaps through specific life experiences, inner reflections, or even sheer serendipity – may start sensing what many describe as “the call of Ayahuasca.” It’s as if this spirit recognizes a kinship or alignment and calls the individual closer, inviting them to partake in an Ayahuasca ceremony.  Find out if Ayahuasca is right for you Will you be safe physically and emotionally? Ayahuasca and mental health

Ayahuasca and mental health

In today’s world, mental health issues are reaching unprecedented levels. While Western medicine has provided various methods to address these concerns, many of them tend to scratch the surface without addressing the root cause. Often, the prescribed remedy is a pill or medication that pushes the problem aside, enabling individuals to continue with their daily lives. While this approach might offer temporary relief, it often falls short of providing a holistic solution, leaving many unsatisfied. Because of this individuals worldwide are in search of alternatives that can genuinely transform their mental state, yearning for genuine relief, peace, happiness, joy, and love. These ideals may seem distant, almost unattainable, for those grappling with severe mental health challenges. However, with the right interventions, they can be realized. Ayahuasca, promises potential in this regard. Let’s dive deeper into understanding how Ayahuasca can play a significant role in mental well-being. Key takeaways:  Many of the mental health struggles we face are related to the way we life our lifes, The lack of direction, societal pressures, transactional relationships etc. create a disharmony within us that we experience as mental health problems. By getting to know yourself better, becoming confident in the person you are, start liking and loving the person you are, know the direction for your life, how you want to contribute in your community will help you overcome many of the mental health challenges you face. These often involve deep emotional processes that Ayahuasca can assist you with. Table of Contents https://youtu.be/pDHZQdRho2s Get Ready: A personal viewpoint on mental health Mental health is an incredibly delicate topic, one that requires our empathy and understanding. My experiences, particularly living in Colombia, have opened my eyes to the diverse spectrum of severe problems that people face. It’s in these moments that I’m reminded of how I don’t have problems, i have some difficulties that I am facing. There have been countless times when I’ve encountered individuals in dire circumstances, and my heart genuinely goes out to them. I pray for their strength and well-being. Through their stories, I’ve been prompted to reflect on my own challenges and, more often than not, I find that they pale in comparison. This perspective shift reminds me – and perhaps you, the reader – that many of our daily frustrations are just that, mere frustrations, rather than insurmountable problems. Ayahuasca, in its profound way, has been known to assist many in purging built-up negative energies. It offers strength and resilience to individuals, empowering them to continue their journeys with renewed vigour. I also firmly believe that a significant portion of the mental health challenges we see today, especially in the West, are self-inflicted. There’s a pervasive culture that, inadvertently, creates a victim mentality. Instead of addressing the root causes, many get trapped in the symptoms, often feeling justified in their pain. This is not to undermine genuine struggles but rather to address the phenomenon of dwelling in suffering. In many instances, the core issues revolve around a fundamental disharmony with oneself and the divine (not want to go to deep into that topic in this blog), the universe, or however one chooses to interpret it. But, regardless of the origin, there exists hope and potential solutions. There are ways to move past the chronic anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges so rampant today. The first step? It demands an unflinching, honest look in the mirror, a willingness to reflect, accept, and then initiate change. It requires individuals to let go of attachments to their suffering and actively seek healing and growth. Many individuals with autism also suffer from mental health challenges. We talk in a separate Blog about considerations around Ayahuasca and autism.  What are the origins of mental health problems:  Deeper issues which are difficult to deal with:  childhood abuse, trauma, or neglect bereavement (losing someone close to you) having a long-term physical health condition homelessness being a long-term carer for someone domestic violence, bullying or other abuse as an adult significant trauma as an adult, such as military combat, being involved in a serious incident in which you feared for your life, or being the victim of a violent crime physical causes – for example, a head injury or a neurological condition such as epilepsy can have an impact on your behaviour and mood. (It’s important to rule out potential physical causes before seeking further treatment for a mental health problem). Those are in more detail outlined in this blogpost Various mental health issues inflicted by our lifestyle choices.   Many of our mental health challenges arise directly from the way we’ve structured our lives in modern Western society. It’s hard to ignore the overwhelming evidence that suggests our lifestyle choices, heavily influenced by societal pressures, play a significant role in creating these issues: 1. Conformity Over Authenticity: Many feel compelled to fit neatly into predefined boxes or cater to external expectations, often at the expense of their authentic selves. 2. The Comparison Trap: With the prevalence of social media and our connected world, it’s easier than ever to compare ourselves to others, leading to feelings of inadequacy and discontent. 3. Transactional Lives: A life lived calculating what one can gain from every interaction can feel hollow. When relationships become mere transactions, real connection suffers. 4. Superficial Bonds: Surface-level relationships can lead to feelings of isolation and loneliness, even when surrounded by people. 5.  Detrimental Digital Habits: Spending time on X-rated websites or mindlessly consuming online content can negatively influence mental well-being. 6. Lack of Personal Vision: Without a clear sense of self or purpose, many simply adopt the desires and goals society prescribes, leading to a lack of fulfillment. (or have no goals at all) 7. Neglecting Physical Health: The mind and body are intrinsically linked. Neglecting physical well-being can have direct implications on mental health. 8. Unresolved Family Dynamics: Childhood and ongoing parental issues often cast long shadows over adult lives, influencing behaviors and thought patterns. 9. Inauthentic Expression: Suppressing emotions or not communicating

Can Ayahuasca heal your body?

Can Ayahuasca heal the body?

A healthy person has a thousand wishes, a sick person only one. When we are faced with physical illness, it becomes the number one priority. A simple cold can turn our world upside down, making us value the days of effortless breaths. When an ailment becomes more persistent, the relentless search for a remedy can sometimes lead us down a labyrinthine path of traditional and alternative treatments. Western medicine, as advanced as it is, sometimes throws up its hands in the face of certain conditions. When conventional avenues offer little relief, our quest often shifts into ancient practices and alternative therapies. Whether it’s the rhythmic touch of acupuncture needles or the gentle influence of homeopathic solutions, we remain eager explorers, seeking the next solution for our illness. And maybe we stumble on Ayahuasca (that’s why you are probably reading this) and the knowledge of the “shamans” (called Taitas and Mamitas”) of the rainforest .Hopefully they can help us… So lets take a deeper look.  Disclaimer: Before we dive into Ayahuasca and its possible benefits on physical health, it is imperative to state the following: This article does not substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the counsel of a medical professional for queries concerning your health or a medical condition. The insights shared in this article are rooted in indigenous beliefs, personal observations, and experiences. While the indigenous communities have thrived on their traditional knowledge for centuries – leading remarkably healthy lives (a testimony being Mama Concha’s Grandfather living beyond 120 with high vitality) – many of their practices and beliefs haven’t undergone rigorous scientific validation. If you’re on a quest for purely empirical data and peer-reviewed studies, this particular article might fall short of your expectations. That said, we’re excited to announce that our in-house doctor will soon be creating content that delves into the intersection of Ayahuasca and contemporary medical inquiries. For now, I invite you to approach this article with an open mind. While not every paragraph presented is bolstered by scientific backing, the wealth of anecdotal evidence – both from my personal journey and from countless others who’ve been on this path – is undeniable and worth considering. Key takeaways:  In a holistic sense, when there is a disease it symbolizes that there is a imbalance in the non-physical / spiritual aspect within us. Ayahuasca can help bring awareness to the interconnectedness and the reason behind our physical disease. Through the awareness we can start changing what is creating the disease within us. Table of Contents What the indigenous believe To the indigenous communities of the Amazon, health isn’t just related to the physical, but interwoven with threads of spirituality, emotion, and physicality. They hold a profound conviction that physical ailments are not isolated incidents, but reflections of disturbances in our spiritual or emotional realm. Headaches: According to their beliefs, recurrent headaches be an indication of a ‘sickening’ thought process. Overthinking, nurturing negative or toxic thoughts, or dwelling excessively on matters might manifest as this physical discomfort. Can Ayahuasca heal your body, Back Pain: In the indigenous understanding, a painful back could symbolize the emotional or psychological burdens we carry (from ourselves or others). It could be the weight of past traumas, responsibilities we’ve unwillingly shouldered, or emotional baggage from unresolved issues. Throat Issues: A sore or uncomfortable throat might be seen as a sign that you’re not voicing your feelings, thoughts, or desires adequately. It suggests a suppression of one’s voice, hinting at unspoken truths or feelings. Leg Pain: If one’s legs are in distress, indigenous wisdom might ask, “How are you walking in the path of life?” This ailment is believed to be tied to the way we conduct ourselves. Stomach Issues: The stomach, believed to be the seat of emotions for many cultures, is understood by the indigenous to be linked with grudges, resentments, and undigested feelings. Stomach troubles could indicate internalized anger, unresolved conflicts, or suppressed emotions. In essence, for the indigenous, there’s an inherent interconnectedness between the body, mind, and spirit. An ailment or “dis-ease” is not just a random occurrence but a message, a signal that something is not in harmony within. The physical discomfort is a manifestation of a deeper, often metaphysical, disharmony. They advocate introspection and self-awareness to decode these messages, urging us to restore balance not just in our bodies, but in our lives as a whole. Life is speaking to us In the end, I believe life is our biggest teacher, it is whispering lessons to us. These whispers can sometimes be soft nudges steering us in a certain direction or stark warnings alerting us of a misstep. If we fail to tune in, those whispers can turn into shouts, demanding our undivided attention.  Often, these shouts from life manifest as physical illness. Just as a machine exhibits wear and tear when misused, our body, the most sophisticated machine of all, signals when something is amiss. The harmony within us gets disrupted, and our physical form takes the brunt of this disharmony, showing symptoms and signs of what’s going wrong on a deeper level. Consider sickness. It’s not just a biological malfunction but a plea from the body and soul to consider its message. Think of it this way: Just as the profound, altered state under Ayahuasca invites introspection and understanding, sickness can be a doorway to deeper self-awareness. Yes, the two states are distinctly different, but they both direct our attention inward. The next time you’re under the weather, rather than just popping pills to suppress the symptoms, try a different approach. Dive deep into the feeling of being unwell. Instead of resisting it, embrace it and listen. Your body, in its wisdom, is trying to convey something. Maybe it’s a plea to slow down, perhaps a nudge to let go of pent-up emotions or even a reminder to realign with your purpose. Your soul, intertwined with your physical being, often speaks through the body. It’s sending messages about alignment, balance,

Ayahuasca for Personal Growth – beyond the healing

Ayahuasca for personal growth

Ayahuasca has gained international acclaim, often heralded as a potent remedy for those dealing with Trauma, PTSD, and Depression. Its therapeutic properties, rooted in age-old traditions, have provided relief to many in their most vulnerable moments. But what if you don’t belong to this group? What if you had a peaceful upbringing and life has, by and large, been kind? You might ponder, “Is Ayahuasca for someone like me?” Apart from helping to deal with emotional turmoil and baggage from the past, Ayahuasca can serve as a powerful tool for personal development. It helps us to evolve, to transform into the most elevated versions of ourselves. So, even if the past doesn’t haunt you, Ayahuasca offers a bridge to a future of greater self-awareness, deeper connection, and boundless potential. Let’s take a deeper look.  Key takeaways:  Ayahuasca is not only for healing the past but it can help you become the best version of yourself It can help shift you into a higher state of consciousness out of which it is easier to create a flow like state You don’t know what you don’t know and maybe you are not even aware of what is holding you back in your life. Ayahuasca can help you create a vision for the type of person you want to become and the type of life you want to live. Table of Contents Identifying and improving your life’s blind spots with Ayahuasca Each of us has areas in our lives where we want to improve, whether it’s the intimacy in our romantic relationships, the dynamics with family members, our financial stability, our health or our emotional well-being. We often see the outcomes we’re producing, some satisfactory and others less so, prompting us to recognize room for improvement. When confronted with challenges, it’s human nature to externalize blame. We might point fingers at others, lament about the unjust nature of life, or muse that circumstances have conspired against us. Yet, oftentimes, the key issue lies within us but just outside our awareness: we’re missing a crucial piece of life’s equation. Like a chef unaware of a missing ingredient, we wonder why our life’s dish doesn’t taste as expected. That’s where Ayahuasca steps in, offering profound introspection. It serves as a mirror, reflecting back not only our strengths but our blind spots and recurring errors. With its guidance, we unearth the unconscious patterns and beliefs that dictate our actions. By understanding these hidden drivers, we gain the power to alter our inputs in life’s equation. And as we modify these inputs, the outputs – our life results – inevitably shift in kind. Through Ayahuasca we gain insight into the steps and rhythms of life, enabling us to dance more harmoniously with existence. https://youtu.be/UWpRYxKZUlQ How your level of consciousness influences your life Digging deeper, let’s consider the realm of consciousness. While we may like to believe our thoughts are very individual, they often aren’t. Distinct individuals, though miles apart, will have surprisingly similar thoughts when they are in the same state of consciousness like anger, shame, pride, or even love. Our thought patterns, in many ways, are intertwined with the level of consciousness we operate from. Dr. David Hawkins delves deep into this subject, and I highly recommend exploring his work, especially his book “Letting Go.” He provides invaluable insight into how consciousness shapes our perceptions. It’s a well-established concept that our thoughts shape our feelings, which in turn drive our actions, subsequently determining our results. These results then loop back to influence our thoughts, setting in motion a perpetual cycle. This cycle can be uplifting, spiraling us towards growth, or it can be debilitating, dragging us into a rut. However, a crucial element often overlooked in this equation is our state of consciousness. The level of consciousness we inhabit profoundly influences our thought patterns. Some might argue that it’s even more impactful than the tangible results we witness in our lives. Therefore, the reality we experience and perceive externally is largely constructed from the thoughts and feelings we harbor within. Must read Blog: Ayahuasca healing: healing vs. improvement How to change our thoughts and feelings So, the pressing question becomes: How can we change these deep-seated thoughts and feelings? There are various methods: – **Affirmations** can be useful tools. But their efficacy relies heavily on genuine belief and emotion. Merely chanting affirmations without feeling them, especially when life consistently presents contradictory evidence, can be fruitless. – **Action-oriented approaches** are also beneficial. Adopting the mindset of ‘doing it despite not feeling like it’ can create a positive momentum, gradually shifting our internal dialogue. However, the most transformative method involves altering our state of consciousness. Admittedly, this is no easy feat. Advising someone engaged in anger to simply not feel angry can backfire, making them even more irate, as they might feel unheard and invalidated. But, consider the transformative power of shifting perspectives. What if, instead of anger, gratitude became the dominant response? Imagine confronting a family disagreement not with fury and hostility, but with appreciation and understanding. The outcomes would undeniably differ. Approaching situations with gratitude rather than anger can lead to resolutions that are not only peaceful but also constructive for all parties involved. Shifting your Consciousness with Ayahuasca While it’s convenient to theorize about consciousness shifts, it’s another thing entirely to live and embody that change. Changing our state of consciousness isn’t as easy as flipping a swith. This is where Ayahuasca steps in as a potent facilitator for such transitions. Ayahuasca can help transcending current states of consciousness. It provides a window into the depths of our psyche, allowing us to confront and address deep-seated emotions and triggers. More often than not, our reactions to our romantic partner or any other external stimulus aren’t based purely on the present circumstances. Instead, these reactions are a manifestation of unresolved emotions, traumas, or past experiences. A seemingly insignificant action by a partner might unearth profound feelings of anger or guilt that have been dormant within us. In

Ayahuasca self worth: Can Ayahuasca boost your self-image?

Ayahuasca self worth

Life’s a journey, and a significant part of that ride is how we see ourselves. It’s like wearing glasses: if the lenses are scratched or blurry, everything’s going to look a bit off. Our self-image and self-worth are those lenses. When they’re clear and clean, life looks good, feels good. But for a lot of us, life has thrown some dirt on those glasses. We start doubting ourselves, thinking we’re not enough—just because of a few smudges on our view. A low self-worth can seriously weaken our spirit. It’s like having a radio in the background constantly playing the “I’m not good enough” station. And changing that station? It’s not as easy as just hitting a button. These feelings and beliefs are deep-rooted, often going way back to our early years. So, now the big question is, can Ayahuasca actually help shift our self-image? Can it make us feel worthy and valued? Let’s dive in and find out. Key takeaways about Ayahuasca self – worth:  Low self-worth can come from abandonment wounds from early childhood experiences or from events we have not emotionally processed in our life (heartbreak, betrayal, failed business etc.)  These wounds from the past have an impact on the present on how we conduct ourselves in difficult situations.  You can start healing these wounds with the help of Ayahuasca After your ceremony you will have to act from this new you and not fall back into old patterns Table of Contents Personal story Honestly for me this was a very big process, actually one of the main reasons why I wanted to start drinking Ayahuasca. I did not want things on the outside (finacnes, romantic relationships etc.) have such a strong emotional impact on me. I wanted to feel good within, independently on the response from the outside. To create abundance within. And it was not something easy to create, it took me over 2,5 years of consistent effort to deeply shift those things within me. And I want to share in this blog on things that I learned, so you can shortcut your learning curve. So, you can create an amazing life for yourself from the inside out.  Where does low – self worth come from?  Let’s break it down. When we talk about self-worth, we’re really digging deep into the foundation of who we believe ourselves to be. And often, the roots of low self-worth can be traced back through significant events in our lifes. Early childhood It all starts when we’re just little babies, with no bigger care in the world than our next meal or nap. But even then, our emotional blueprint begins to form. As babies, our needs were simple but essential – physical care and emotional attention. Yet, not all of us had the latter consistently met. So, as we grew, we often times internalized a belief that because our primary caregivers did not fulfill that need, we were not worthy of love. Most likely, we believed that if our emotional needs weren’t met, it was because we didn’t deserve them. The battle of life Alright, moving on from childhood, let’s talk about life as adults. Because adulthood isn’t always sunshine and rainbows either. Putting yourself out there means you’re bound to face setbacks, heartbreaks, and straight-up failures. Ever tried your hand at a business venture and watched it crash and burn? That burn can leave a mark that goes deeper than your pockets. It’s like our minds hold onto these experiences, causing our guts to churn with fear at the thought of taking another business risk. Or think about relationships. Maybe you’ve given it your all, only to have things end in heartbreak. That person, who was once your whole world, has become a distant memory or, even worse, someone you now see with resentment. After something like that, it’s no wonder many of us build walls around our hearts, vowing not to let anyone in again. These life experiences, if not properly processed, can distort our perceptions of ourselves. Instead of seeing past failures as lessons, they become heavy chains, making us feel that maybe we just aren’t cut out for love or success. We start questioning our worthiness for the good things in life. — I hope this provides a clearer perspective on where low self-worth can stem from and how life’s challenges shape our beliefs about ourselves. Let’s continue unpacking this journey! Must read blog: Ayahuasca healing – healing vs. improvement How low self worth and a negative self – image affect us. It’s not just about how we feel on the inside. Low self-worth and a negative self-image can seep into every corner of our lives, distorting how we interact with the world and how we let it interact with us. Romantic Relationships: Trust Issues and More Picture this: You’re in a fresh, new romantic relationship. The vibes are good, and the chemistry is undeniable. But if those unresolved wounds from your past are still lingerng, they’ll affect your new bond. You might find yourself second-guessing every move your partner makes, bracing yourself for betrayal. Your protective walls might push them to act distant, effectively creating the very scenario you feared. Instead of seeing your partner for who they truly are, you might project onto them the insecurities and hurts of your past. There might even be times when a partner is loving and caring towards you and you push them away. Deep down, it’s hard for you to accept such affection because a part of you feels unworthy of it. The Business World: Fear, Self-Sabotage, and undervaluing yourself Carry this low self-worth into the business realm, and it’s a whole new ball game. Perhaps there’s a hesitancy to make that pivotal sales call, because of a deep-rooted fear of rejection underneath. Maybe you find it challenging to ask for a fair price for your services, worried that you’ll be perceived as greedy or simply believing you don’t truly deserve it.  Then there’s self-promotion. Ayahuasca Ego death: Reset your current identity and build a new foundation

Ayahuasca ego death

Ego death is a theme that can come up in an Ayahuasca ceremony, many people even actively want to encounter this. But why is there such a strong fascination and allure around this topic.   In this blog, we’ll explore the essence of ego death, its implications post-experience, the potential benefits, and yes, the inherent risks. This profound journey has been described as both enlightening and challenging, and it’s essential to understand more about this if you are going into an Ayahuasca ceremony with this intention or if you experienced it yourself and are trying to make sense of the experience. Key takeaways:  Your ego is your current identity and it can cause a lot of suffering in your life  Experiencing Ego death can serve as a reset  It can be a confusing experience and start moving a lot of energy within. Which is challenging but also necessary to build a new foundation for the new you.  Be very mindful after your ego death, your ego will reform and at the time after the ceremony you can influence and shape it tremendously.  Table of Contents What is the ego?  The concept of the ego, much like other philosophical and psychological terms, doesn’t come with a one-size-fits-all definition. Depending on whom you ask, interpretations and beliefs about the ego can vary significantly. However, two notable figures, Dr. David Hawkins and Eckhart Tolle, provide insightful takes on the subject that resonate with many. Dr. David Hawkins presents the ego as the embodiment of our lower self. In his perspective, the ego is fundamentally about survival, operating from a place of self-preservation and often clashing with our higher self. A deep dive into his teachings, as outlined in sources like [this], reveals that the more anchored we are in lower states of consciousness, the tighter the ego’s grasp on our psyche. It’s as if the ego thrives and exerts more control when our consciousness remains in a more primal or basic state. Eckhart Tolle, another luminary in the realm of self-awareness, has a distinct portrayal of the ego. According to him, the “ego” represents a part of your mind that constantly comments, doubts, and speculates on everything around it. Driven by an underlying fear of being nothing, the ego aims to neglect this fear by identifying with material, thought, and emotional elements. This results in the construction of what we commonly perceive as our “self.” [Source]. Taking a step back and summarizing the insights from both these thought leaders, one can come to the conclusion that the ego is essentially our constructed identity. It encompasses everything from our name, occupation, achievements, to our deeply held beliefs, pride, shame, and guilt. In essence, our self-image and how we perceive our place in the world is governed by the ego. While certain facets of this identity might serve us well, acting as motivators or protective measures, others could be detrimental, not just for our individual well-being but also for our relationships and interactions with others. Some aspects of our ego might empower us and lead to growth, while others might limit us, shape negative patterns and behaviors. Why people want to experience Ayahuasca Ego death: An Escape from Self-Made Traps We are the creator of our problems and our suffering. And many times it can seam like we are standing in our own way. Consider those moments just before you’re on the brink of significant progress in life. That could be in relationships, career, personal growth, or any venture. Just when you’re about to get to the next level, a familiar self-sabotaging trait kicks in. These are not mere accidents but patterns deeply ingrained in our psyche. The worst part? They keep on happening over and over again. We recognize our tendencies to revert to harmful coping mechanisms, even when we understand their damaging consequences. Our interactions with others, particularly those closest to us, are another arena where our ego’s impulses often play out destructively. A flash of anger, a hurtful comment, or an impulsive action can wound relationships, sometimes irreparably. Witnessing the pain and distress we inflict on loved ones can be agonizing, deepening the chasm of guilt and regret within us. The accumulated weight of these patterns, regrets, and the cycle of pain can be unbearable. It feels like carrying a heavy backpack of negativity that we desperately wish to shed. No matter how hard we try to “let go” or “move on,” these burdens have a sneaky way of making a comeback, often with renewed intensity. Given this backdrop, it’s no wonder that many are drawn to the promise of ego death. The idea of dissolving these layers of self-inflicted barriers, even momentarily, is immensely appealing. Psychedelics, and Ayahuasca in particular, have gained a reputation of helping to break down the ego, to experience an ego death. This can reset, cleanse, and start afresh without the baggage that has held them back for so long. But it’s essential to understand that it’s not a permanent state of being. Imagine ego death as a system reboot for your psyche. Once the system is back up, the software (in this case, the ego) begins to reinstall. And just like the old software, it comes with its preferences, biases, and familiar patterns. While the ego’s primary function has always been survival, it does this by creating an identity rooted in familiar territory. This territory comprises experiences, behaviors, patterns, and belief systems accumulated over a lifetime. It’s like a well-trodden path. Even if this path is riddled with pitfalls and obstacles, it’s still known, and to the ego, familiarity equals safety. Therefore, the post-ego-death phase can witness the ego attempting to revert to its old self, driven by

Ayahuasca Purpose – Can Ayahuasca help you discover your purpose?

Ayahuasca purpose

Finding your life’s purpose is a game-changer. When you know what you’re meant to do, you just have more energy and a clearer sense of direction. No more feeling lost or wondering if life has any real meaning. In my humble opinion, everybody should make the effort to discover their purpose. Ever hit that spot where you wonder, “What am I really here for?” It’s not just some random thought; it’s the big question that can change how we navigate through life. Having a clear purpose is like getting a roadmap. Suddenly, things make sense, choices get easier, and you’ve got that extra kick in your step. No more feeling stuck, like you’re just going through the motions. Honestly, everyone should take some time to figure this out—it’s a game changer, a significant step in our journey of life.  Now, there has been some buzz about Ayahuasca helping in this quest. Is there any truth to it? Let’s find out. Key takeaways:  Maybe Ayahuasca shows you other things to work on before encountering your purpose  Your purpose can develop after your retreat, pay attention where your intuition and inspiration leads you to.  Creating a vision for your life in an Ayahuasca ceremony is also possible Having the encounter with death on the state of Ayahuasca is often a building block to discover your purpose of life  Familiarize yourself with certain questions before, during and after your ceremony that can help to guide you  Table of Contents How Ayahuasca can help you find your purpose Maybe you are not ready to encounter your purpose Sometimes you’re hoping Ayahuasca will just lay it out for you in a ceremony. Like, “Boom! Here’s your purpose.” But life (and Ayahuasca) doesn’t always work that way. There might be stuff you’ve got to sort out first. For instance, I went into one of my earlier ceremonies hoping for some grand revelation about my path. Instead, Ayahuasca showed me to clean up certain parts of my life first. The message was, “Before you run, learn to walk.” Finding your purpose after your Ayahuasca retreat But here’s the thing: Your purpose might show up in subtle ways after your ceremony. Maybe you feel a pull to try something new or feel a fresh burst of inspiration. That’s Ayahuasca working in its mysterious ways. It’s nudging you, guiding you. If you’re open to it, you might find yourself wandering down an unexpected road and your purpose starts to become clear t to you.  The indigenous always share to not just look for the awe-inspiring moments of the Ayahuasca ceremony, chasing the next realization. The real work is in the days, weeks and month after the ceremony. What shifts do you start noticing. Depending on your intention, things will most likely still develop in that direction for you, even though not as noticeably if you do not pay attention.  Must read blog: Ayahuasca Integration – How to maintain the magic of Ayahuasca Facing the Inevitability of Death During an Ayahuasca Ceremony An Ayahuasca ceremony can bring one face-to-face with many profound realizations, and one of the most intense ones is the confrontation with death. It’s more common for those individuals with the intention to discover their life’s purpose. On a cognitive level, we’re all well aware of the inevitable – that at some point, we’re going to depart from this life. Yet, do our daily choices and actions reflect this awareness? Personally, I never really thought about death, I logically new one day the day will come, probably in my 70s. So when I am in my 60s I’ll start dealing with that topic. And then in an Ayahuasca ceremony I found that life does not necessarily work like that… Might not be a big revelation on the outside looking in, but for me it was significant.  Having to confront the concept of death, even if it’s only within extraordinary state of reality of Ayahuasca is a wake up call. It’s not just something you see in your ceremony and then get back to your life as if nothing happens. You start to meditate on that topic. This profound encounter forced me to introspect deeply, to re-evaluate my priorities and the trajectory of my life.  It spurred a series of critical self-inquiries. How do I envision the rest of my life playing out? What legacy do I aspire to leave behind? What kind of impact do I yearn to make during my time here? Important questions to ask yourself and they helped me shift my life where I can deliver an impact and live with that spark of life on a daily basis.  Finding your life purpose in an Ayahuasca ceremony Many people associate Ayahuasca with healing the past and processing the traumas that still haunt affects the actions of today. And Ayahuasca is great for that. However, life is not just about figuring out the past. It is just as much about the present (most likely even more :)) and the vision we want to create for ourselves. What type of values do I want to live by, how can I live in higher integrity, where am I standing in my own way. Those are all important questions to consider and can also tie into encountering your purpose in an Ayahuasca ceremony.  A ceremony can give you a sneak peek of your potential. It’s like seeing a trailer for a movie about your best self. And the best part? Once you’ve seen it, it’s hard to shake off. That vision sticks with you, influencing the choices you make, pushing you closer to that best-version-of-you.  Sam Believ had a vision in the Colombian Amazon Rainforest about building a retreat center. Following this impulse (coupled with a lot of work) he was able to build a thriving Ayahuasca Retreat Center. Drinking Ayahuasca in difficult times – Good or bad idea?

drinking Ayahuasca in difficult times

If you’re currently struggling with personal hardships and contemplating whether participating in an Ayahuasca ceremony might be beneficial or detrimental, you’re not alone. This question is a significant concern for many who are considering to venture into psychedelics as a means of navigating life’s difficulties. You’ve probably encountered the term “set and setting” numerous times if you’ve explored psychedelic substances. It’s a key concept emphasizing the importance of one’s mindset (set) and environment (setting) when partaking in psychedelic experiences. If you’re going through a difficult period, it’s understandable that you might worry this state of unrest could amplify during your Ayahuasca ceremony, potentially leading to an unpleasant or even traumatic experience. However, is this concern entirely warranted? Or, conversely, could it be that these moments of struggle present a unique opportunity for profound healing and self-discovery? We’ll delve into these questions in this blog, seeking to showcase the potential risks and rewards of participating in an Ayahuasca ceremony when life’s challenges seem overwhelming. There’s a widely held belief that a turbulent emotional state could yield a distressing psychedelic experience – the so-called “bad trip.” But is it as straightforward as that? Is there a hard and fast rule that links emotional turmoil to negative psychedelic experiences? To find these answers, it’s essential to delve beneath the surface and understand the complex interplay between our psychological state, the Ayahuasca ceremony, and the resultant experiences. Key takeaways:  With Ayahuasca you are not experimenting with psychedelics but following a tradition of thousands of years.   You need to know that you are about to confront yourself and it needs to be your decision to want to go on this journey.    When taken with humility, respect and confidence Ayahuasca can deliver breakthroughs in difficult times. Table of Contents https://youtu.be/Mv28egv70rY “Venturing into psychedelics”  The language we use to describe our experiences with psychedelics can subtly shape our expectations and outcomes. When we talk about “venturing into psychedelics,” it may invoke a sense of self-experimentation, an adventurous exploration into the unknown realms of our consciousness. This metaphor, while vivid, can carry with it a sense of risk, particularly when one is already experiencing distress. For instance, consider the scenario of deciding to take LSD either alone or with friends, essentially stepping into the vast psychedelic landscape without a guide. This approach can appear thrilling, but it also carries potential dangers, especially if you’re already navigating through difficult times in life. The potential for an overwhelming experiences is significantly higher in such situations.  This is where Ayahuasca stands apart. Ayahuasca is not merely a substance for casual experimentation; it is a deeply sacred plant medicine that has been used for centuries and millennials within indigenous traditions. When participating in an Ayahuasca ceremony, you’re not simply “trying something out;” rather, you’re engaging in an established, time-honored process, one that has been refined over generations and grounded in a rich tradition and wisdom.  In Ayahuasca ceremonies, you’re not alone. Instead, you’re accompanied and guided by experienced facilitators who understand the extraordinary states of consciousness this plant medicine will induce. These guides are there to help you prepare for the experience beforehand, navigate through it, and make sense of your insights afterward. This support can be invaluable, especially when you are processing significant life struggles. Thus, the dynamic of Ayahuasca ceremonies vastly differs from unsupervised, casual psychedelic use. Must read Blog: Ayahuasca Preparation – How to prepare for your Ayahuasca ceremony Addressing the Concept: drinking Ayahuasca in difficult times Psychedelics have a unique way of turning up the volume on what’s already happening inside us. If you’re navigating a turbulent time or dealing with significant fears, psychedelics, such as Ayahuasca, can magnify these experiences, bringing them front and center in your consciousness.  This is a challenging prospect that understandably makes many apprehensive. It’s quite common to hear people express the sentiment that they need to ‘get their life in order’ before they consider an Ayahuasca journey. This mentality rests on the belief that Ayahuasca requires a pre-existing state of clarity and tranquility for it to be effective or beneficial. However, from the conversations I’ve had with friends and others who’ve expressed this view, it seems that this ‘perfect moment’ rarely arrives. Life is seldom without its challenges or uncertainties. And, if you wait until you feel entirely ready, you might find that you’re perpetually postponing the experience. It’s crucial to remember that you don’t need to be perfect, or have every aspect of your life figured out, before you approach Ayahuasca. This sacred plant medicine isn’t reserved for those who’ve achieved a certain level of stability or enlightenment. Instead, it can serve as a catalyst for finding that stability and clarity.  Ayahuasca can support you in unraveling your inner complexities and healing your deepest wounds. It can aid in releasing what no longer serves you and illuminating the path towards who you aspire to be and the life you desire to live. Moreover, Ayahuasca can boost your self-esteem and confidence, equipping you with the tools to materialize your visions. In my own journey with Ayahuasca, I found immense value in not waiting until I had everything figured out. Instead, I allowed Ayahuasca to be a part of the process of figuring it all out, and that has made all the difference. Ayahuasca as a Master Plant: Ayahuasca is often referred to as a ‘master plant’. This extraordinary plant medicine seems to possess an intrinsic understanding of who we are, often eclipsing our own self-perception.  Moreover, Ayahuasca isn’t just about unveiling our hidden truths; it also seems to understand what we need for our healing journey. It’s an intuitive guide, knowing when to push, when to pull back, and when to envelop us in its nurturing embrace. Our collective narrative around Ayahuasca often revolves around fear. There’s a common apprehension that Ayahuasca may give us a harsh, intense, even brutal wake-up call. While such radical confrontations can occur, they are not the norm. Contrary to popular belief, Ayahuasca tends

For many, the intention with Ayahuasca is associated with healing, and the concept of forgiveness is frequently a part of this process. We often hold on to anger and grudges when someone caused us harm or injustice. This pain plants seeds of suffering within us, growing into of resentment. Perhaps you were on the other side and started the cycle of pain, causing hurt to someone you hold dear, and therefore carrying a heavy burden of self-resentment. This burden may have even escalated into self-loathing, so the feeling of self-love is unfortunately just a concept and the opposite of reality. The beauty of Ayahuasca is its ability to guide us beyond intellectual understanding to a more profound emotional truth. It’s one thing to mentally acknowledge forgiveness, quite another to genuinely feel it radiate from the core of your being. Such emotional shifts are complex and often take a significant amount of time. Yet, Ayahuasca can serve as a catalyst, dramatically accelerating this healing process. Still, all of this won’t just happen if you “just” drink Ayahuasca. It is a tool that facilitates and speeds up the healing, but the responsibility of taking the necessary steps rests with us. You have to work with it. This article aims to showcase those steps, guiding you on your journey towards forgiveness through Ayahuasca and healing.  Key takeaways:  Ayahuasca can help with deep emotional processes like forgiveness. When not addressed these topics can deeply impact and limit us in our lives.    You will have to go through the different stages of forgiveness, acknowledging the pain it is causing, stopping the blame game, stopping to wishing the past was different, accepting the reality of life, embracing compassion and eventually forgiveness and even gratitude will come for the positive things that came out of the event.    Forgiveness is an internal process but it is also important to put the effort in the outer reality, for example to start having the difficult conversations.  Table of Contents Forgiveness through Ayahuasca: Facing an unprocessed event The first step towards healing, which you may have already taken, is the facing and acknoledgenment of the occured event. Some individuals manage to distance themselves from a traumatic event so effectively that they feign ignorance of its occurrence. Or they dismiss its influence on their lives. This evasion, of course, is a far from the truth. However, this kind of self-deception might appear as the easiest course of action to navigate the overwhelming emotions at that moment.  But eventually, if you genuinely aspire to heal, you must acknowledge the event’s existence and its impact on your life. This acknowledgment may even emerge during an Ayahuasca ceremony. You might have considered something as just a minor occurrence, but suddenly, in the ceremony, you understand the significant implications this “minor” event has had either on you or someone important in your life. And so begins the path of forgiveness, of setting things right, of healing the wounds and “fixing” the broken pieces. Must read Blog: Ayahuasca healing – healing vs. improvement Stopping the Blame Game In any dispute, each party carries a story, and to varying degrees, each narrative holds its legitimacy. Often, we resist acknowledging the other person’s perspective, easily discarding it without a fair consideration. But pause and ask yourself: Is your side of the story absolutely true? Could there be a side to the story you might be neglecting? Always, two sides exist, and the truth often dances somewhere between them. Yes, you can stubbornly cling to your version, repeatedly painting the other party as a heartless fool and asking how they could have done such a thing. However, this approach will not lead you down the path to healing. Alternatively, you can opt to view the situation through a variety of lenses, opening yourself to diverse perspectives. This shift can cultivate a deep sense of compassion towards the situation. The topic of compassion will be discussed in more depth later in the blog. In an Ayahuasca ceremony, the plant medicine might present you with these different perspectives. Sometimes it does gently, other times, more forcefully. If Ayahuasca displays a challenging perspective, it’s essential not to resist. In doing so, you’re merely fighting against yourself, and the resistance will only intensify, complicating your ceremony. If you open yourself to what Ayahuasca intends to show you, you’ll experience a significant release, and the process of your ceremony will become smoother. Recognizing the suffering caused  A significant catalyst for change is often pain. Pain creates a level of discomfort so acute that it creates the desire for transformation. Therefore, for you to initiate healing, you must first recognize how your circumstances contribute to suffering in your life. There’s a saying: “Holding on to anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.” But the person truly suffering from this toxic situation is you. Ask yourself, for how much longer are you willing to suffer? When your answer becomes “no more,” you set in motion the wheels of change. It’s about acknowledging that you’re an active participant in your own suffering, that your state of mind – your thoughts and feelings – magnifying the suffering in your life. Understand that you can alter your thoughts and emotions regarding an event. You can instigate a shift, however challenging it might seem from your current state of consciousness. Yet, within the realm of “extraordinary consciousness” as described by Ayahuasca shamans – a state induced through Ayahuasca – these seemingly impossible shifts can begin to occur. Stop wishing to be able to change the past  In Islam, there’s a saying: “When things go wrong, one should never say, ‘If only I had done such and such, this would not have happened.’ ‘If only I had…’ provides an opening for the devil.”  Please note, this isn’t about religious dogma. Instead, the essence of this proverb is what resonates deeply with me, and possibly, with you too. Many of us can look back at

Ayahuasca healing: healing vs. improvement

Ayahuasca healing

You are probably a person who works a lot on himself / herself. You want to create a great life for yourself and you understand that you have to level up in order to create that.  And honestly I am in the same boat as you. Ive been into personal development since my early 20s. The personal development was mostly focused on business skills, productivity, sales, marketing, scaling all that kind of stuff. Also of course around the topic of self-confidence.  Key takeaways:  Many times we are focusing on improving our lives and overlook the importance of healing the pieces which are broken and hold us down.    Acknowledging the event that we have not processed and are affecting our day-to – day life.    Ayahuasca can help you become aware that you need healing in areas that you did not even know you needed and deliver these emotional shifts Table of Contents First Personal healing experience with Ayahuasca:  When i then drank Ayahuasca 2,5 years ago a lot of things started to shift in me. But basically my first ceremony I had love flowing through my whole body and it was a transcendental experience and it helped me heal on a very deep level. And since then I have started to learn more the difference of the two, improvement and healing.  The path of self-improvement:  So lets say you have experienced a strong emotional impact which is still affecting you today. It can be a failure in business, betrayal of friend or family, a heartbreak whatever it is for you. And you decide. Hey, I never want to feel like this again. I feel helpless, overwhelmed, all of this.  So the solution is to level up. Because a better version of myself it wouldnt happen again.  So you start to build a successful business  You get in the gym and get in great shape.  You are starting to date attractive people  You basically improve your life. And congratulations! You did amazing, you can be proud of yourself. And those are great pillars. But they are not the foundation…  Because deep down you are still not ready to open your heart. To really trust somebody. Because you associate that from being disappointed, from being hurt.  And in a way all of this success that you are creating for yourself is also running away from the pain.  You notice that your life around you is improving. But your level of happiness really isn’t. But why is that.  The path of Ayahuasca healing:  Because you haven’t healed. You haven’t processed the negative impact. You tried to mask it with success.  So don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with success, it is great and I congratulate you for putting in the work in that area. But it is not the only area.  You also need to start healing from the pain that you suffered. And it will leave a scar, and it is okay. But you definitely want to get to a point where you don’t bring your past pain into the present situation.  That you are afraid to be yourself, because you where bullied as a kid That you cannot trust your current partner because of what your ex did  That you cannot build meaningful friendships because your old friend betrayed you  That you are afraid to start a new business, because of what happened to the old one  That you cannot hug your mother, father, sibling whoever in your family because of what happened in the past. Because that is going to weigh you down. And no amount of success can mask that.  How do you heal the wounds of the past So then the question is, how do I heal, and this is a topic in and of itself, probably more like a 3 hour conversation. So I will write a lot of blog posts about this.  But healing is not about becoming the best version of yourself but accepting the worst aspects of yourself.  Its about feeling all the emotions that you have been running away from.  Facing those aspects of yourself..  Its about compassion and forgiveness.  Making peace with the past.  And if you can do that, you will start to heal.  This is not something that you do with your head. Oh ok, I have to forgive that person. I have to accept that I failed in that business, ok check.  No you actually really have to feel it in your heart.  Have acceptance come in for the negative things that happened in your life and eventually there will even be gratitude.  And I know this probably sounds like it is very far away for you at this moment. It is ok.  But I hope you start to understand the difference between improvement and healing and that you start doing the work in this area as well.  You can do this with a therapist, with a coach, with plant medicines like Ayahuasca.  Many people struggle with mental health issues. You can read more about how Ayahuasca can help with mental health in a blog article that explores this topic.  You might experience sleepless nights and are asking yourself: Can Ayahuasca help with insomnia. We dedicate a Blog specifically for this topic.  How Healing Works Through Ayahuasca:  The mysterious and profound experience of Ayahuasca has been considered a catalyst for healing across different cultures and spiritual traditions. Referred to as the ‘master healer’, Ayahuasca has an uncanny way of addressing the deepest and most needed areas of our personal journey. We might step into the Ayahuasca experience with an idea of what we need to heal, but often Ayahuasca gently (or sometimes not-so-gently) points us towards those neglected corners of our inner world, those places where we’ve been avoiding but are most in need of our attention. The common saying applies: “Ayahuasca doesn’t give you what you want, Ayahuasca gives you what you need…” Ayahuasca healing is not strictly linear or logical. It often moves beyond the confines of our

Ayahuasca vomit explained: Why you vomit on Ayahuasca

Ayahuasca vomit and purge

Ayahuasca is one of the most powerful plant medicines in the world. It’s origin is from the Amazon, and one thing comes to mind when hearing about Ayahuasca… Vomiting.  Something most people absolutely hate, so why would I drink something where I know I will end up vomiting…  But the vomiting is more than just a physical side effect of Ayahuasca. It is actually a deep level of purging, letting go of unwanted energy, healing, and much more.  In this blog, we will dive deeper into the topic and also discuss how to prepare yourself best for the unpleasant experience of vomiting.  Key takeaways:  Purging, through vomiting or diarrhea is a normal physical side effect of Ayahuasca.    During the vomiting the participant is also going through an energetic and spiritual cleaning, letting go of things that no longer serve them and keeping them down. Table of Contents https://youtu.be/vNPdiAoRA74?si=ej5tL4j5M3WEiTSx One of the first questions people ask is: Do you always have to vomit? In most cases, you will vomit, but not always. Ayahuasca is a purging medicine, and the normal reaction is either vomiting or diarrhea.  However, in very few cases, people do not experience vomiting or diarrhea.  What is purging on Ayahuasca, known as “la purga” Purging on Ayahuasca signifies that you are physically and energetically cleansing. Purging from repressed emotions, psychological burdens, and things that weigh you down In a way, it represents spiritual detoxification and letting go of energies that hold you back from your true potential.  Ayahuasca Experience: “Vomiting Was the Favorite Part of My Ceremony” One of the participants in an Ayahuasca ceremony shared the day after the ceremony that the vomiting was actually her favorite part of the ceremony. Initially, she was apprehensive about this, and just felt like alright, this is something I have to deal with when I want to have the experience. So she embraced the process. In her experience, the vomitting was a very liberating part of the ceremony. We all carry so much weight and unresolved things with us, it is great to be able to let go if. And she felt that powerful release through the vomiting in her ceremony.  So of course it is not something pleasant or something that we look forward to, but this experience might help you to reframe your position towards vomiting when drinking Ayahuasca.  Also, as crazy as it sounds, there are also some tips to follow around vomiting in your Ayahuasca ceremony.  Tips for Vomiting in Your Ayahuasca Ceremony Here are some tips and insights that might shed light on this unique experience. Try not to vomit in the first 30 minutes – rinse your mouth After drinking Ayahuasca, it is important to resist the urge to vomit in the first 30 minutes. This period is critical for the Ayahuasca to permeate your system, to allow its healing properties to absorb into your body and start working their magic. If you purge too quickly, you might not feel the full effect of the medicine, which could be a setback in your journey. Post-drinking, rinsing your mouth with water can help eliminate the residual taste, making the urge to vomit less potent. If you’re unsure about when 30 minutes have passed, generally, resisting the first and second wave of the urge should suffice. Sit down and breathe But what if the urge is overwhelming? Well, remember this second piece of advice: Sit down and breathe slowly. The calming effect of deep, mindful breathing can help soothe the turbulence within, keeping the Ayahuasca safely in your system for longer. It’s about calming your body and spirit, reminding yourself of the purpose of your journey, and preparing for the transformative experience that lies ahead. Ask the Ayahuasca to stay in  Sometimes, there can be an internal conflict during this process. We all have parts of ourselves resistant to change, aspects that fear the challenges Ayahuasca might bring, and that part might try to expel the brew quickly. It’s essential to acknowledge this resistance, but also to encourage the transformative aspects of your being to persevere. In an unusual but effective practice, try asking the Ayahuasca to stay in, to remain within you as you traverse this journey. You’re drinking something that, despite the initial discomfort, holds the potential for immense personal growth. Ayahuasca vomit: Open your mouth while vomiting  And finally, when the moment of purging does come—and for many, it will—remember to open your mouth. This might seem like an odd tip, but it’s practical. If your mouth is open as wide as possible, it ensures a smooth passage for the release of unwanted energies, making the process less uncomfortable by avoiding the sensation of vomit through your nose.  Standing up while when you throw up on Ayahuasca  A piece of advice from the indigenous elders is to stand up while the Ayahuasca vomit. This might sound counterintuitive, particularly when your body is wrapped in waves of nausea and potential dizziness. Standing up, however, can aid in the more natural expulsion of energies, allowing for a more profound purge. It’s a matter of embodying your strength and engaging your willpower to also follow the traditions and the wisdom of the elders. However, understand that this doesn’t necessarily apply to first timers. If you can’t stand up, don’t worry. Sitting down while purging is not a failure—it’s a matter of listening to your body and respecting its limits. The purging process is about emotional and spiritual liberation. No need to feel ashamed of vomiting One critical aspect to remember during an Ayahuasca ceremony is that there’s no room for shame in your journey. The act of vomiting, despite its appearance, is a pivotal part of the process. It’s an expression of your commitment to the process and to let go of the energies that no longer serve you. Every participant, from the most seasoned veteran to the first-timer, goes through the same stages. Remember, you’re in a shared space of healing and transformation,
