Impression Temazcal Medellin
What is a Temazcal
Originating from Mesoamerican traditions, Temazcal is a type of sweat lodge made of volcanic stones and clay / or bamboo covered with blankets. Participants enter the dome-shaped structure where water infused with medicinal herbs is poured over hot stones, producing therapeutic steam. It's a ritual of rebirth, purification, and deep introspection.
How Temazcal relates to Ayahuasca
While both Temazcal and Ayahuasca have indigenous roots, they offer different spiritual journeys. Temazcal focuses on purification and rejuvenation through heat and steam, while Ayahuasca connects you with an extraordinary state of consciousness using plant-medicines. However, both ceremonies aim for healing, self-awareness, and connection to ancient wisdom.
In some practices people close the Ayahuasca ceremony with a temazcal to deepen the connection with the earth.
