Ayahuasca Retreat for Couples
Healing a relationship often begins with healing yourself. That’s why many couples choose to attend our ayahuasca retreat together – to reconnect with themselves first, and therefore also to each other.
- Growing apart - You share a life but feel like strangers living in parallel.
- Recurring Conflicts - The same arguments circle back, unresolved, over and over.
- Communication Breakdown -Words don't land the way you mean them, or stop coming altogether.
- Emotional Distance - One or both have shut-down, checked-out, or built walls.
- Unmet Needs - Feeling unseen or taken for granted by the person closest to you.
- Loss of Intimacy - The physical or emotional closeness you once had has faded.
- Carrying Old Wounds Into the Relationship - Past trauma showing up in ways that hurt you both.

A Crisis Is Not Necessary — Some Couples Come Here Ready for What's Next
Some of the most powerful retreats happen when things are actually going well. Many couples come to Harmonica not to fix something, but to deepen what they already have — to mark a moment, make a commitment, or face a new chapter together with intention.
- Getting engaged or married -Beginning your life together with a shared ceremony and a deeper understanding of yourselves and each other.
- Starting a family - Preparing emotionally and spiritually for one of the most transformative transitions a couple can make.
- Empty nest - Rediscovering who you are to each other now that the children have left, and choosing what comes next.
- Retirement or a major life shift - Entering a new phase as a team, with clarity about what you want it to look like.
Ayahuasca doesn't just repair — it expands.

One Circle, Many Paths: Not couples-only retreats
At Harmonica, we don’t run retreats exclusively for couples because we believe healing is strengthened by human connection, not separation. Every retreat brings together a genuinely diverse group of people—the high-achieving executive sits in the same circle as the young traveller, the single mother, the war survivor, and the senior citizen finding their footing again.
We’ve found that this diversity is part of the medicine itself. So many of the wounds we carry are formed through our relationships with others, and healing alongside people from different backgrounds, ages, and life experiences offers a rare opportunity to see ourselves reflected in new ways. Something shifts when people who would never otherwise meet are facing the same darkness, the same vulnerability, and the same hope. Nobody is above anyone else here. We all come to heal, and we all come to live a little better.

I came after many therapies that only helped temporarily, and—with Oliver’s guidance, thoughtful preparation, and a welcoming environment—the first ceremony steadied me while the second became a breakthrough where decades of pain released. I left replacing hate with love, finding forgiveness and real peace, and I’m grateful to the team and eager to return with my son.

… From the YouTube videos in preparation, to the kind and caring leaders, to the absolutely stunning view at the retreat center, this is truly the perfect spot to take the leap. By the end, the group felt like a family that had gone on a fantastic journey together. There was lots of great preparation for the experience both before arrival and in the day before the ceremony, and tons of opportunities for thoughtful reflection and integration after each ceremony. You also can’t beat the smaller group size- really important for an ayahuasca experience in my opinion…

I felt incredibly well cared for by the entire team. The openness and humanity with which they treated us created a space where there was truly no room for shame – everything was allowed, nothing was embarrassing. The conversations before and after the ceremony were deep, honest and heartfelt. And during the ceremony itself, the team was attentive, present and supportive – you never felt alone. Thank you for your mindful and loving support.

FAQ - Ayahuasca Retreat for Couples
Questions from partners considering healing together.
Yes. Couples attend the same ceremonies as the rest of the group. You will be in the same space, though Ayahuasca is a deeply personal journey - you may find yourself in very different inner experiences even while physically together. That is normal and often where the most profound relational insights emerge.
It can happen and it is nothing to fear. Ayahuasca surfaces what is already present - if tension exists, it may become more visible. Our facilitators are trained to hold space for relational material. Integration sessions after ceremony give you both a structured space to process whatever came up together. Many couples describe these moments as the most honest conversations they have ever had.
Absolutely. Some of the most transformative retreats happen when there is no crisis to solve. Couples come to Harmonica to prepare for marriage, to step into parenthood with more awareness, to reconnect after children leave home, or simply to invest in the relationship before life gets busier.
The difference in experience levels usually becomes irrelevant once the medicine begins. Both first-timers and experienced participants are guided equally. Each person goes through individual health screening before acceptance. Max 12 participants and a 1:2 support ratio ensures both partners receive personal attention.
Yes. Private rooms are available as an upgrade to the standard shared accommodation included in the retreat price. We recommend it for couples - having a private space to decompress together between ceremonies is valuable. Mention your preference when booking.
Frequently Asked Questions about Couples doing Ayahuasca together
Is ayahuasca safe for couples to do together?
Yes — for most couples, attending together is not only safe but deeply meaningful. As with any retreat, each person goes through a standard health and medication screening beforehand to ensure ayahuasca is appropriate for them individually. The retreat setting at Harmonica is designed to hold each person’s experience safely, whether you’re sitting side by side or moving through very different inner worlds on the same night.
Can we attend the same ceremony together?
Yes. Couples attend the same ceremonies as the rest of the group. You’ll be in the same space, though ayahuasca is a deeply personal journey — you may find yourself in very different inner experiences even while physically together. Many couples find this is actually one of the most valuable parts: witnessing each other go through something real, without needing to manage or fix it for the other person.
What if one of us has done ayahuasca before and the other hasn't?
This is more common than you might think. Our facilitators are experienced in supporting both first-timers and returning participants within the same ceremony. The more experienced partner is encouraged to focus on their own process rather than guiding or reassuring the other — and our team will be fully present to support whoever needs it. Often, the difference in experience levels becomes irrelevant once the medicine begins.
What if the ceremony brings up conflict or difficult feelings between us?
It can happen, and it’s nothing to fear. Ayahuasca has a way of surfacing what’s already present — if tension exists, it may become more visible. What matters is the container around it. Our facilitators are trained to hold space for relational material, and integration sessions after ceremony give you both a structured space to process whatever came up together. Many couples describe these moments as the most honest conversations they’ve ever had.
We're in a good place — is this retreat still right for us?
Absolutely. Some of the most transformative retreats happen when there’s no crisis to solve. Couples come to Harmonica to prepare for marriage, to step into parenthood with more awareness, to reconnect after the children leave home, or simply to invest in their relationship before life gets busier. Ayahuasca doesn’t need a problem to work with — it meets you where you are and takes you further than you expected.
