A note before you read on...
Worth saying clearly: this comparison is written by Harmonica Retreat, so read it with that in mind. We’ve tried to present Gaia Sagrada fairly and stick to what can be verified. Our aim isn’t to convince you Harmonica is the better choice. It’s to give you an honest enough picture that you can figure that out for yourself.
Gaia Sagrada's Reviews — What their Reputation Say
Gaia Sagrada has a high volume of positive reviews, and that speaks to something real — a center doesn’t accumulate that level of consistent praise by accident. At the same time, as with any retreat center, I’d encourage you to weigh the lower-star reviews into your evaluation as well, not just the average rating. A fuller picture — including the harder-to-find reviews — will serve your decision better than the headline number alone.
We encourage you to research them thoroughly across multiple platforms before making any decision:
- Reddit — search “Gaia Sagrada” on r/ayahuasca (link)
- Aya Advisor (link)
- Gaia Sagrada on Retreat Guru (link)
- Gaia Sagrada on Google Reviews (link)
As always, pay particular attention to the 3 and 4-star reviews. They tend to offer the most balanced picture of any retreat center.

- Tradition - Gaia Sagrada works within Ecuadorian shamanic practice. Some people feel specifically called to a different lineage
- Location - Ecuador is accessible for some travelers but less convenient for others

Personally, I’m not a fan of mixing different medicines — particularly combining ayahuasca and San Pedro within a short period of time, (or even adding a sweat lodge to that). Many elders in this tradition agree. I don’t think there’s one right answer here, but it’s worth noting that these two medicines grow hundreds of miles apart in their natural habitats — there may be a reason for that.
