Worth saying clearly: this comparison is written by Harmonica Retreat, so read it with that in mind. We’ve tried to present Arkana fairly — they’ve built various centers over nearly a decade, which speaks to their level of effort. Our aim isn’t to convince you Harmonica is the better choice. It’s to give you an honest enough picture that you can figure that out for yourself.

Personal Observation on Arkana and how it compares to Harmonica Retreat
When you land on Arkana’s website, it ticks every box — traditional Shipibo lineage, mission-driven ethos, sincere facilitators, and a genuine commitment to reciprocity with the Amazon. It passes the initial vibe check. The pricing is steep, but quality has a cost and that’s understandable.
That said, something personally doesn’t sit right with me. I’m not a fan of mixing different medicines — particularly Bufo alongside ayahuasca. My belief, shared by many in this space, is that each medicine deserves its own container and enough time to unfold properly. That’s a philosophical position, not a criticism — but it’s worth knowing before you choose.
As with any retreat, I’d recommend reading reviews carefully and looking at the full picture — not just the aggregate score
